Terms of Reference

Background of the Project: Vrutti is implementing a Project to build the Economic Resilience of the Women Fish Vendors in Mumbai through various interventions aimed at strengthening  their livelihoods and promotion of  community institutions to sustain the work after the project period.

About the Organization: The contract will be with Vrutti which is a reputed NGO working in the livelihood space for more than two decades. The project is led by professionals with more than 25 years experience in the fisheries and development sector.

Employment Type: Contractual basis

Duration of Contract: 18 Months, However, there may be opportunity for extension or longer term appointments for activities that may continue beyond the current project period.

Fees and Other allowances: Candidates selected will be paid monthly consultancy fees. All project related travel expenses will be reimbursed. The fees will be fixed as per the qualifications and experience

Job Description

• Organising fish vendor groups in markets and villages
• Orienting & training of groups/leaders
• Ensuring regular functioning of groups
• Implementation of programmes for fish vendors developed by project
• Information collection for database, etc.

Qualification/Skills/ Experience required

• Reserved for Mumbai fishing community candidates
• Plus two minimum; Graduate preferred
• Experience: 2 years general work experience; community organisation work desirable
• Willingness to do field work
• Female candidates have advantage, provided there are no constraints in travelling and irregular working hours

Reports to: The Project Manager based in Mumbai.

Measurement

The incumbents will be assessed by the reporting officer on the accomplishment and delivery of all components described. The measurement will also include demonstrated elements of commitment, passion, accountability, ideation, flexibility, accessibility, and system and process management as well as the expected work ethics.
